YEAR OF THE CAT
TIME PASSAGES
Scottish Singer Songwriter Al Stewart looms large in the lore of the British Folk revival. Having shared a flat with a young Paul Simon, purchased his first guitar from The Police's Andy Summers, and begun his career playing alongside Cat Stevens, Van Morrison, Bert Jansch, and Roy Harper, Al Stewart has seen enough and done enough to merit the hype. His Platinum selling "Year Of The Cat" is a classic of the 1970's, and a perfect showcase of Stewart's out of the box craft. He writes with a staunch refusal to rehash, saying, "If it's already been written, why write it again? If it's already been said, why say it again?" His lyrical bushwhacking has earned him a place in the modern songwriting pantheon as one of the most unique and innovative voices on the scene.

The Empty Pockets
The crackle of the fire, crisp air scented with nutmeg and evergreens... it must be the Holidays! Grab your best guy or girl and curl up with a delicious cup of The Empty Pockets this season.

The Empty Pockets’ often cerebral and sometimes playful indie rock sound is built upon a strong foundation of the timeless Americana, Blues, and Motown Soul that came before them.

Their journey began with the late, great Buddy Holly. Childhood friends, Solomon (guitar) and Rosenthal (drums), started a band by joining forces with Bellon (bass). Soon after recording an original demo as “Josh & The Empty Pockets,” the new group was showcased in a Chicago theatrical production of The Buddy Holly Story, performing as Buddy Holly & The Crickets six nights a week. There they met singer Brett (keys), who enlisted as the final band member. With more than one distinct vocalist now delighting their audiences, the band officially became, simply, “The Empty Pockets.”

Ever since, they’ve been embracing collaboration. Just as The Band famously came into their own behind various frontmen, The Empty Pockets have found comparable footing teaming up with a wide range of legendary artists; Kenny Loggins, Simon Kirke (Bad Company/Free), Al Stewart (“Year of the Cat”), Gary Wright (“Dreamweaver”), and Richie Furay (Buffalo Springfield/Poco). Their sound has evolved, influenced not only by these remarkable musicians, but also through collaboration with independent artists and, most importantly, among themselves. Through The Empty Pockets’ adventures, Solomon and Brett fell deeply in love and united their worlds as husband and wife. Since then, the band built a recording studio and continues to tour incessantly in pursuit of spreading joy through their music.

What do you get when longtime friendships, skilled musicians and eternal love combine on stage? Magic. Join The Empty Pockets as they perform unique versions of your favorite holiday classics, along with well-crafted original songs to celebrate the season.
