The Walking Plaid is a Celtic music and dance performance group comprised of local and regional, competition level artists. The artists in the group have performed for large audiences at the Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, Ohio, the Cuyahoga River Fest in Cleveland, Ohio, audiences in Beckley, West Virginia, and have performed with The Chieftains, Carlos Nunez, and Gaelic Storm.

The entertaining stage show has bagpipers, various kinds of Scottish drums, singers and dancers. There are also
complimentary contributions from artists who play drum set, guitar, keyboard, tin whistle and various hand drums.

Most of the performers appear in traditional Celtic costuming, and many of the artists regularly compete throughout the United States, Canada and even at the World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland.

Many different types and tempos of music are performed to present some recognizable, traditional Celtic music, some competition level arrangements, as well as other cultural and more modern music, including music written by members of the group.

In all, there are approximately 20-25 artists coming together to perform a very entertaining and memorable experience. This is the group’s first time in Kent, Ohio and we look forward to seeing you at The Kent Stage on March 17th to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in true Celtic style!
